Monday 19 September (all day at Higham piecemakers)

What a great day we had today.   The morning was spent making items that we can add to the sales table at our quilt show in October.  With the usual chatter and laughter, quite a few more items came to life.

These little owl pincushions/keyrings made an appearance....sweet arn't they???

Not sure what these two industrial ladies made, but look forward to seeing the finished items.

For the afternoon session, we had invited Diana Turner to show us how to make Kanzsahi Folded Flower.  She explained a little of the history of these wonderful hand made beauties, and showed us how the Japanese Geisha girls wore them, and how small they can be made by the master Kanzsahi flower makers.... just stunning.

We started with a 3" square of fabric, which once folded made one of the petals for our flower. You can use larger or smaller squares, depending on the size you would like your finished flower.  Of course there is always one that has to be a little different, and wanted a big one.....guest who that was??

Yes, she even had time for coffee!!

Think we all had fun with these flowers.

At the end of the afternoon we had made quite a few flowers, and Diana very kindly supplied us with pins and buttons to turn the flowers into beautiful little brooches.    Thank you once again Diana we all had a ball.

First attempt at blogging

Today at the group, we had an apple fest..... someone had a bumper crop, so came to share with us. The talk  ( in the corner I sit) was on how we would be cooking them, and some great recipes came up, but for me you can't beat good old Apple  Pie, alas the sewing got the back seat today.
BUT
What I did learn this afternoon, was how to add to this blog, so not all chatting this week.

Last Christmas we were all given a charm pack as a gift Yeah!!! so I decided to make a table centre with my pack.  I used the Pat Sloan tutorial called 'Lucky Charm'  but altered the centre flowers.

Now to test my skills I will try to add the photo of my table centre.  O.K. not so cleaver, as the photo I wanted to appear here has appeared shown up above.

Looks like this site might be a bit like my quilts ....work in progress

Angie's bag

This is the bag that Angie made while off sick, but we can all make one the pattern is sold at Poppy Patch....so who is game for that?????
