A Quiet Start

to the month. Maybe it's because of the warm weather, or maybe it's because Andy Murray was playing at Wimbledon today but the "A"team turned up and they are the productive ones!

Anyway, a chance to catch up on the gossip and then off we all began our projects

Lynda and Lesley are both working on a group project "Mini Mania Challenge"
They are given the new "Mini" quilt pattern on the first of the month and "Show and Tell" on the last day.   Anyone can join this group. It's just for fun. You keep your own piece. You can skip a month if you want, so there is really no pressure.  This month's design comes from a tutorial on
Sew Scatterbrained's blog - just the right sort of project to sit and sew in the garden this sunny month.

Angie is working her way through her "Hussuff"  It will be lovely Angie

Di has started a (what I thought was) Candlewick project but looking through the pictures I think this could be  Mountmellick - perhaps Di could confirm this.
Fran's is definitely Mountmellick (cos she said so - and I can see it is too!)

The technique is very similar to Candlewick embroidery, but the stitching is much denser (more dense?)  and generally on a floral theme.

Jackie was making a little dress for a doll that she has constructed

Pauline has stitched an Elephant motif that will go into a bag made from these Hexagons

Chris was busy (makes a change!) making Christmas decorations for our stall in September
And Val is joining her pentagon shapes together to make a child's ball. Love her choice of novelty fabrics.

Shirley and Ena are both smocking fabric to make more Christmas baubles
These always look gorgeous .

Ellen is (again) on a production line, making Counter-change Smocking coat hanger covers.
You know Ellen, can't make one of anything. Anyway, she has a big Christmas order (can't tell you who for) but there will be some very happy little girls this Christmas.

You may think that Ellen always produces pretty things - and there were so many thoughts - not necessarily nice ones - when I saw this little chap.  What do you think it is? Come on - be honest!

I will show you at the end.

Muriel is producing yards of bunting for the garden
And her garden is producing lots of goodies, that she kindly shares with us. Sadly, I was too late for some of these juicy gooseberries. Hopefully there are more to come.

Carole is making the pillow part of a Quillow that she has completed

Val is dressing all the wine bottles that she consumes  can find. They will look smart and make a lovely gift.
More embroidery going on here, this time Stumpwork (wish they could find a nicer name!)  from June and Colleen is using Perle thread but it looks a bit like Crewel work.
Mrs Beal is appliquéing letters that will go into a cushion. I think she may be a bit OCD (or it's the teacher coming out) but she had to arrange these in order before I could snap them.
Oh! Sorry Mrs Beal - I had said "no sarcy comments"(that'll go down well cos its not a proper word!)
Brenda had purchased a pack of ready cut teddy bears and is appliquéing them ready to make a Linus quilt

And she had a lovely fabric gift bag too

Back to the ........ Snowman

Well of course - it's a cover for a tube of Smarties!

Whatever did you think it was!
