Flying Start to February!!

Well, at long last, Lynda has completed her "Pin Tidy". She used a Batik fat 1/8th bundle that was given to her from our friend Ann, who moved to Northumberland several years ago!  But I think you will agree, it was worth the wait.
Really pretty colours
The start of her collection of pins
And a little bit of bling too

Mrs Beal decided to use up lots of scraps to make a play mat for a new baby. Lots of bright scraps, he'll love it.

JUST SCRAPS!!
A binding being sewn on a colourful throw  made from two charm packs (Simply Colour & Bella Solid White)
love the design of this

Michelle obviously has too much time on her hands ( a touch of jealousy here??)  and is tackling this paper pieced Compass with a circle of geese around it!  I think that this is from a Judy Mathieson design.  Will keep you posted on this.  It is stunning Michelle.

some careful colour placement

We have seen some of the little bags that were given as a kit a Christmas, but there are many more out there!  Come on ladies, you can get them done in an hour - really!! We have given out 65 so some serious stitching need to be done here.

sew pretty

Bit of a fuzzy photo, but Christine is embellishing a plain white T shit with lots of tiny beads

Seriously!!
And elsewhere there was a bit of appliqué going on

someone's got the hump

And some knitted appliqué - is there no end to our talents?

And a bit of Redwork here.

simple but effective
And Ena is re jigging a chicken trio to hang "portrait" rather than "landscape" to fit in a new kitchen .
So cute

you know who you are

There are a bevvy of pretty lavender hearts being completed after last weeks workshop. Some of us have gone into full production!

Whilst Janice is embellishing a piece of work made with another group that she attends.
lots of little beads and buttons
This is actually a piece of embroidery that has a painted background

some serious stitching here

And  a little crochet lesson making snowflakes.  It's lucky that all snowflakes are different eh Ellen?
We will be making these to sell at our exhibition in September - I have already put in my order, (need a blizzard really). Maybe I should have sat in on the lesson!

these are so pretty. Would make lovely tree decorations or maybe a garland

And whilst all this was going on some serious cutting of strips for our Linus Day on 18th February  when we hope to make a few quilts using the Scrappy Trip Along tutorial, which can be found here

This photo is a very colourful quilt made by Red Pepper Quilts
Fell in love with this one!
Look at some more photos here for inspiration.

If you have time before the 18th, bring along 6 strips  (2 1/2"  x  16 1/2 ") for each block. No particular colours - just go into your stash/scraps and get cutting. ANYTHING GOES!!
If you would rather make some incubator size ones them that is fine ( about fat 1/4 size).
They are always in need.

It will resemble a sweat shop on the day, but is always great fun.

We will be having our AGM (delayed from January because of the snow) at 2pm and this will take about 30mins, so time for a breather and a cup of tea!

Please note that we need a new Treasurer as Lynda is stepping down after 11 years!! You won't be left to fend for yourself if you are considering the post. There is lots of support from the committee.

We also need a volunteer Key holder to open up from the Monday ladies ( we have one from the Wednesday girls) . Again - we can't operate without some help.
